Today in ICT 12 class, we were given our first program to complete using Java. The program we will be completing is a "Hello World" program, being the program we always start off. I am guessing that Java will be similiar to the other programs we have worked with such as Turbo Pascal, Visual C++, and Python although it will most likely have different variables and use different wording in the coding.

Search Engine

A search engine that I had never heard of was recently brought to my attention. After trying to search various different things using this search engine I discovered that when I conduct a search, the results that will be displayed appear in a cubed like shape. Overall, searchcube is a graphical search engine that presents search results in a compact, visual format in three dimensions.

Easter Egg

The "Easter Egg" that I chose to create in my Visual Basic multi-form project was a digital clock that displays the current time. In order to access my Easter Egg, you will have to go to my Closing Screen and press "Ctrl k" or "Ctrl K". It does not matter if the "k" is uppercase or lowercase. Try it out!

Multi-Form Project

After working with Visual Basic for several weeks, we were assigned to do a multi-form project in Visual Basic. The purpose of this project is to be able to put together many of the new functions of Visual Basic that I have learnt how to use. My multi-form project has the theme of the "Grammy Awards" to it and it ties together several applications that I have already created. My splash screen contains a picture of a red carpet and command buttons in order to connect to different places such as the Main Menu. My Main Menu page holds the theme of the "Grammys" by being the page that contains the "nominees". The nominees are several of the programs that I have previously created in Visual Basic, and basically the thought is to vote the best one to win an award. My project contains an About form, which has been very common in my previous Visual Basic projects. The about form is basically briefly summarizing what the program is, who it is created by, and the copyright of it. Lastly, my multi-form project contains a Closing Screen. This closing screen acts as the "thank-yous" in the awards, when one of my projects was voted the best and won a grammy. My Visual Basic multi-form project was quite simplistic to do because it was basically putting together all of the previous knowledge I had gained while working with Visual Basic. In the process of creating this project I was able to learn even more new functions or features and how to fix certain errors when they occured. My final touch to my project was putting in a "easter egg". An "easter egg" is something that is hidden in my project and can only be seen when the user clicks certain keys. Overall, this project was straight forward and I enjoyed creating it!

On March 19, 2009 Microsoft released the final version of IE8. The installation for this new internet has been said that it is fast and just requires a few minutes. Personally, I have not downloaded this new internet explorer yet because I am quite pleased with the one I am working with now. In the long-run I may download internet explorer 8 because it will not be causing any harm to me or my computer, and I may even like it better. If you would like to download IE8, visit http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internetexplorer/default.aspx .

Muziic is a reasonably new music service that has already become very popular throughout society. It uses technology that plugs into YouTube and retrieves music and music videos that can be assembled into streamed playlists. It will be interesting to see how people will react to this new service and if it will be efficient or not.

AVG (officialAVGnews)

Currently, I have added a new friend to "follow" on Twitter, being "AVG(officialAVGnews). This is a very productive friend to follow because it provides us with advice on internet security, staying safe online and product news. I think that with all the scary things occuring nowadays, it is a good choice to have something like AVG in order to provide us with good advice.
